2. Training objectives
- To train high-quality Construction Materials Engineers to meet the needs of international and regional integration, capable of proficiently using English and French in communication and when working with foreign partners, or continuing their studies, research, and work domestically and abroad;

2. Training Objectives
- To train high-quality Construction Materials engineers to meet the needs of international and regional integration, capable of proficiently using English and French in communication and when working with foreign partners, or continuing their studies, research, and work domestically and abroad;
- To train young engineers with appropriate foreign language skills and abilities, which will be a source of highly skilled foreign language professionals for state management agencies, training institutions, research institutes, and businesses operating in the construction industry;
- To improve the quality of training, reaching regional and international standards, and moving towards a training model based on the advanced higher education program of the Ministry of Education and Training;
- To create opportunities for PFIEV graduates to pursue master's and doctoral programs with partner universities in France and English-speaking countries.
3. Skills of graduates
: - Possess the necessary professional skills and personal qualities, capable of handling professional work and research independently and creatively.
- Possess the necessary social skills to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international environments.
- Possess the skills to acquire, process, and communicate information, with an emphasis on computer applications and proficiency in both French and English.
4. Training process:
The 5-year training program is built on a solid foundation of basic science knowledge (first 2 years) and foundational and specialized knowledge (next 3 years), with a significant proportion of laboratory and practical courses. Course modules that connect with businesses (internships, site visits, inviting business executives as guest lecturers) are given special attention in the training program.
The training process for high-quality engineers specializing in construction materials at the University of Civil Engineering is as follows:
Phase 1 (first 2 years): general subjects (general knowledge)
+ Partner: Lycée Louis le Grand.
Phase 2 (next 3 years) : foundational and specialized subjects
+ Partner: National School of Civil Engineering Paris – ENPC (Ecole des Ponts ParisTech) and National Institute of Applied Sciences Lyon (INSA de Lyon).
Foreign languages: are emphasized in the PFIEV program; after 5 years of study, students are required to be proficient in two foreign languages: French (DELF B1 or equivalent TCF) and English (TOEFL 500 or TOEIC 600 or IELTS 6.0).
The subjects in the PFIEV training program have been accredited and recognized by:
- The French Commission for Engineering Degrees (Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur - CTI)
and the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) recognize the EUR-ACE Master's degree as a European quality standard.
- The Ministry of Education and Training confirms that the PFIEV degree is equivalent to a Master's degree for admission to higher education programs in the same field of study.
- The specialized knowledge in construction materials is built upon courses related to construction materials, materials science and engineering at the National School of Civil Engineering in Paris. Students can choose to complete their graduation project in Vietnamese, French, or English. Students with sufficient foreign language proficiency will defend their project before a Franco-Vietnamese Council (with the participation of French professors) in French or English.
5. Degrees:
Students are awarded degrees at three levels as follows:
- Students who successfully defend their thesis before the Franco-Vietnamese Council and possess two foreign language certificates in French and English (as stipulated in section 4) will be awarded a high-quality engineering degree from the University of Civil Engineering and an appendix to the diploma from the French partner university.
- Students who successfully defend their thesis before the Vietnamese Council and possess two foreign language certificates in French and English will be awarded a high-quality engineering degree from the University of Civil Engineering.
- Students who successfully defend their thesis before the Vietnamese Council will be awarded an engineering degree from the University of Civil Engineering.
6. Benefits and Study Conditions
: - Students will be provided with favorable conditions for learning and research through a system of materials and textbooks in French and English, and a team of lecturers with high professional and foreign language qualifications;
- Students will receive intensive French and English language training and specialized courses in French and English throughout the course, practicing their languages through tests, exams, major assignments, course projects, and thematic discussions, facilitating postgraduate studies abroad or employment in an international environment; - Priority will be given to students applying for
master's and doctoral programs and participating in scholarship programs with partner universities in France; - Priority will be given to
job placements with foreign companies or joint ventures with foreign companies;
- The French government has funded the construction of high-quality laboratories for PFIEV-University of Civil Engineering, including: a computer lab, a materials lab, a chemistry lab, a physics lab, a hydraulics lab, and a library with many foreign books and materials;
- A modern multimedia language classroom.
- All students receive free intensive French language training during their first three years at the University of Civil Engineering to achieve DELF B1 level, and some outstanding students are sent to study French in classes organized by the French Embassy. In addition, the University also offers intensive English classes for fourth and fifth-year students.
7. Scholarships and Study Abroad
There are many postgraduate scholarship opportunities in France and other Francophone countries after graduating from the University of Civil Engineering, as the PFIEV diploma is internationally recognized and PFIEV students are proficient in foreign languages;
Each year, 1-2 students are awarded scholarships by the French partner school (National School of Civil Engineering, Paris) to undertake internships and complete their graduation projects for 5 months in France;
Annually, there are 3 Eiffel scholarships for outstanding fourth-year students to pursue a dual degree at the National School of Civil Engineering, Paris.

: Thanks to a strong foundation of basic knowledge, broad professional knowledge, and proficiency in foreign languages (English, French), PFIEV engineers can undertake many positions in the field of basic construction, in line with the French philosophy of engineering education. : Students pay tuition fees according to current regulations of the State and the University of Civil Engineering, approximately 1.2 million VND/month.
