Creativity - Building Materials Students 2018
Following the success of the 2016 competition at the University of Civil Engineering, the organizing committee decided to expand the competition's scale to include students from five leading engineering universities in Northern Vietnam specializing in construction materials: the University of Civil Engineering, Hanoi University of Architecture, the University of Transport and Communications, the University of Water Resources, and the University of Mining and Geology. The competition will be held alternately at these universities every two years. In 2018, the competition was held at the University of Transport and Communications with the theme: "Ready-mix concrete using crushed sand" .
"Ready-mix concrete using crushed sand" is considered a very interesting and practical topic, especially in the context of increasingly scarce natural sand. While the use of crushed sand in concrete production in Vietnam is not new, solving problems related to workability, curing time, aggregate gradation, strength, etc., has never been a simple task.
With 8 teams from the Faculty of Construction Materials
- Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, 5 teams from Hanoi University of Transport, 3 teams from Hanoi University of Architecture, 1 team from Thuy Loi University, and 1 team from Hanoi University of Mining and
Geology, the competition attracted a large number of students from various universities as well as the attention of media outlets. The competition received main sponsorship from Xuan Mai Concrete Co., Ltd. The competition results are as follows:
- Special Prize: Team “Building Materials”
- University of Civil Engineering - First prize: Team “ACE”
- University of Civil Engineering - Second prize: Team “UTC-W”
- University of Transport and Communications - Second prize: Team “The Young”
- University of Mining
and Geology - Third place: Team “UTC-C”
- University of Transport and Communications - Third prize: Team “Kien Plus”
- Hanoi University of Architecture - Third prize: Team "Heart of Irrigation"
- Water Resources University - Consolation Prize: Team “UTC-ATP”
- University of Transport and Communications - Consolation Prize: Team "Cuong Phong"
- University of Civil Engineering - Honorable Mention: Team “HAU.T5”
- Hanoi University of Architecture
Building on the achievements of the previous two years, this year the two teams from the Faculty of Construction Materials – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering continued to demonstrate outstanding performance, winning the two top prizes of the program. Specifically, the ACE team, with members Ta Van Quyet (59VL2); Dinh Thi Thuy (59VL2); Vu Khai Hoan (60VL3); Nguyen Duc Vinh (61VL3); Tran Van Thinh (62VL2), won first prize, and the Building Materials team, with members Pham Hong Duong (59VL1); Tran Thi Hoa (59VL1); Nguyen Trong Tien (60VL2); Bui Duc Duy (61VL3); Tran Xuan Thu (62VL2), won the special prize – the highest award of the competition. It is evident that the success of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering lies in connecting generations of students, from their second to fourth years, to create teams that are both professionally competent and full of youthful energy and enthusiasm. Not only did the University of Civil Engineering win the competitions, but it also brought a professional and distinctive cheering style to the contest, igniting the atmosphere in the hall and leading all the other universities to affirm, "The University of Civil Engineering has achieved an absolute victory in the competition."
Having won the top two prizes in the competition, the Faculty of Building Materials - Hanoi University of Civil Engineering continues to demonstrate its position as a leading training institution for Materials Engineers not only in the North but also nationwide.
