Concrete Specialty Institute - Reliable address for cooperation and development

The Institute of Concrete Technology (ICT), formerly the Concrete Department under the Institute of Construction Science and Technology, was established on April 27, 2005. The Institute of Construction Science and Technology (IBST) is a unit under the Ministry of Construction, established in 1963 with the initial name of the Institute of Construction Materials Testing. Currently, the Institute of Concrete Technology operates under the Registration of Scientific and Technological Activities No. A-757 dated September 22, 2008, of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Decision No. 964/QD-VKH dated July 10, 2017, of the Institute of Construction Science and Technology on: Regulations on the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Institute of Concrete Technology under the Institute of Construction Science and Technology. The unit's headquarters are located at: 81 Tran Cung Street, Nghia Tan Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi City.
Over nearly 60 years of construction and development, the Institute of Concrete has made significant contributions to the field of concrete and construction materials, one of the three key areas of the Institute of Construction Science and Technology. The unit's outstanding professional achievements include the following:

  1. Conducting numerous large-scale, in-depth research projects , solving specialized technical problems, and affirming the unit's leading position in this field, such as: Research on the impact of climatic conditions on the technical properties of concrete (concrete construction in hot and humid conditions, crack prevention for concrete, etc.). Research on various types of concrete and advanced concrete manufacturing technologies over different periods: pumped concrete, self-compacting concrete, mass concrete, roller-compacted concrete, lightweight concrete, high-performance concrete, concrete for corrosive environments, concrete for nuclear power plants, etc. Research on concrete waterproofing technology, concrete repair, etc.
  2. Research, production, and application of various building materials and new materials to meet market needs, such as: additives for cement, concrete, and mortar production; self -leveling, non-shrink mortars; lightweight concrete; floor hardening products; steel reinforcement coatings; waterproofing paints , etc.
  3. Research focuses on utilizing industrial waste materials (ash, slag, etc.) from the construction materials industry to address environmental pollution issues and produce new construction products.
  4. Participated in the compilation of important, guiding technical regulations and standards that contribute to concrete quality management, such as: concrete construction and acceptance regulations, guidelines for concrete mix design, standards for ready-mix concrete production, concrete quality control and evaluation, concrete testing standards, and on-site concrete quality assessment
  5. We affirm our position as a highly reputable unit in terms of expertise and quality in testing, inspection, and assessment of construction materials and components for numerous large-scale projects nationwide.
  6. Implement collaborative development activities with domestic and international partners in research, application, technical consulting, and technology in the field of concrete and construction materials.
  7. Member of ASTM subcommittees C01 and C09, and ISO/TC071/SC 07.
  8. Conducting doctoral training, training of laboratory managers and technicians, basic and advanced professional training in concrete, technical training, and disseminating knowledge to units in need.

The Institute is equipped with advanced and modern equipment and laboratories, with comprehensive investment. The Concrete and Building Materials Laboratory (LAS-XD 03) of the Institute of Concrete Technology is one of the key laboratories of the Institute of Construction Science and Technology. The headquarters laboratory and the field laboratories under LAS-XD 03 have been effectively used and exploited in many consulting fields, serving many large projects.
With a team of 61 experts, PhDs, Masters, and engineers in various fields with extensive expertise and thorough training, including 13 graduates from the Faculty of Building Materials - University of Construction, the Institute of Concrete has made significant contributions to the development of the industry and is a reputable and reliable address for cooperation and development in the field of concrete and building materials.
