Introduction to Division of Testing and Research on Building Materials
1. GENERAL INTRODUCTION
The Construction Materials Testing and Research Group is one of four units under the Faculty of Construction Materials, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. Its main function is to serve the training and scientific research needs of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering staff and students, especially in the field of Construction Materials. In addition, the group also conducts research, technology transfer, and testing and verification of various construction materials. The Construction Materials
Testing and Research Group originated from the Materials Laboratory, established in 1957. In 1997, the group was formed by merging three units: the Materials Laboratory, the Materials Research Department, and the Experimental Workshop, according to Decision No. 132/TCXD dated May 30, 1997, of the Board of Directors of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. In 2000, the Construction Materials Testing and Research Group was granted a certificate by the Ministry of Construction for testing and quality control of construction materials, according to establishment decision No. 188/QD-BXD dated January 28, 2000, with laboratory code LAS-XD115. In 2024, the Construction Materials Testing and Research Professional Group was granted a certificate by the Department of Construction for testing and quality control of construction materials, according to establishment decision No. 94/GCN-SXD (GĐCL) dated October 18, 2024, with laboratory code LAS-XD 24.110.
With a team of highly qualified staff and collaborators, and over 50 years of experience in training and research on construction materials, along with experience in production and applying research results to practice, the Testing Professional Group has successfully completed its training tasks as well as basic and applied research in the field of construction materials production and testing. With a focus on linking basic research with practical production, the Professional Group has led and participated in numerous studies and technology transfer projects for the production of construction materials into practical production and social life.

2. PRACTICAL MODULES FOR TRAINING
Currently, the Laboratory Group participates in guiding practical sessions for the Construction Materials course for students throughout the university and for courses for students majoring in Construction Materials. In addition, the laboratory also provides support for practical experiments for postgraduate students and doctoral candidates. Furthermore, scientific research by faculty and students in the Faculty and University is also conducted at the laboratory.

3. STAFF INFORMATION
The Construction Materials Experiment and Research Group always prioritizes the training and development of its staff, ensuring they possess strong professional skills, dedication to their work, and the ability to successfully complete all assigned tasks. Currently, the Department has 6 staff members, including 2 PhDs, 1 Master's degree holder, and 3 Engineers.

The laboratory is located in two working areas on the first floor of the laboratory building at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and on the first floor of Building C3 at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, with a total area of nearly 700 m2. In recent years, the laboratory has been continuously invested in with many modern research and analysis equipment. In addition, the laboratory always focuses on building a strong team, constantly improving the skills of its staff, and expanding cooperative relationships with other units to meet the training and production needs of society, as well as to quickly apply scientific research results and construction quality control to practice.
